Western Beaver Jr/Sr High School

Student schedules will be available in Skyward on July 31. All students will have until August 11 to make any/all necessary schedule changes. Students will not be permitted to make any changes after August 11. These changes include 2nd semester classes. To request a change, you may call the office at 724.643.8500 ext. 1001, or email kelly.fortner@westernbeaver.org and/or mary.halfhill@westernbeaver.org between July 31 - August 11.

Final report cards for grades 6-11 and transcripts for grades 9-11 are now available in the Skyward Parent Portal! District-issued Chromebooks can be kept by students throughout the summer. Your annual installment will be due upon the start of next school year. Families failing to make payments will be required to return Chromebooks and chargers. Sports physicals will be held Monday, June 5, at the high school beginning at 9:30am. These physicals are free of charge and will only be offered to those students participating in fall sports. Students that did not submit paperwork ahead of time will not be eligible to receive a physical. An alternate date will be scheduled later in the school year to accommodate winter and spring sports participants.

Western Beaver is partnering with The Asservo Project to offer a presentation on human trafficking and dangers of social media to all students, grades 6-12. There will be two separate presentations: one for the Junior High and one for the Senior High. These presentations will occur on Monday, April 17th. A letter is available on the website that explains the presentation in more detail. Please contact the high school office with any questions or concerns.

The Western Beaver Youth Ambassadors are sponsoring a dodgeball tournament for students in grades 6-12.  All teams must consist of 4 boys and 4 girls.  Games will be played Thursday, May 11th beginning at 2:45pm.  All parents and family members are welcome to attend, admission is $3.  The championship game will be played during school on Friday, May 12th.   All team registration forms and money are due this Friday, April 14th.  The cost to participate is $13 per student, which includes a t-shirt.  All proceeds benefit the YAP scholarship fund.   Please see Mrs. Fortner with any questions! 

ATTENTION: We have been notified by law enforcement that the potential threat/situation is a widespread hoax throughout the state.  We take any potential threat to school districts seriously.  Out of an abundance of caution we will remain in current Lock and Teach throughout the district with an enhanced presence of our local law enforcement at our buildings.  We will return to normal activities upon dismissal, which would include all after school and evening activities.  Should there be any additional updates, we would immediately notify you. East Palestine Justice Team comes to BLACKHAWK HS TONIGHT 7 pm At 7:00 PM tonight, the high school auditorium will host a town hall meeting for residents affected by the February 3 Norfolk Southern train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Powerhouse attorney, Mikal Watts, will present an educational seminar for members of the community that will include information on the derailment, the legal rights of those affected and allow for a question-and-answer session with lawyers representing nearly 200 members of the community in litigation against Norfolk Southern. Congratulations to the boy's varsity basketball team for advancing to the WPIAL playoffs. WB is seeded 11th and will play the 6th seed, Monessen, Friday night at 7:00 at Monessen. Ticket Sales: Student ($5) and Adult ($7) Tickets will be available online thru GoFan at: www.gofan.co/wpial General Admission tickets will be sold at the gate for $7 thru the Semi-Finals. No student tickets will be available at the gates (only available online).

Due to the ongoing situation in East Palestine, Ohio, government agencies are requesting that Western Beaver School District transitions to an early dismissal today, Monday, February 6. Jr/Sr High School will dismiss at 12 noon, and Fairview will dismiss at 12:45. All drop-off times will adhere to a normal early release schedule. All after school activities are cancelled for today. Please do not contact building offices unless it is an emergency. Further updates will be available later this evening.

Western Beaver Jr/Sr High School will have a Flexible Instruction Day tomorrow, January 25th. All students are expected to attend class virtually via TEAMS and follow a normal bell schedule. Should you have any questions, please email your teacher(s)!

There will be an early dismissal Friday, January 20th. Students will dismiss from the Jr/Sr High School at 12:04.

There will be a FAFSA completion night on Tuesday, November 15th at 5:15pm in the high school library for any senior planning to further their education after graduation. The FAFSA is required in order to receive financial for aide. Please call the high school office to register.
