Welcome to Mrs. LaPearle's Pre-K Class

Pre-K is an exciting and busy year for the students. I am so excited to be sharing it with your child. Together we can make your child's first school experience a great one!

Hi!, I 'm Christie LaPearle and have been teaching Pre-K at WB for 11 years. Before teaching here, I worked as a Preschool teacher at KinderCare Learning Center.

I earned my BA in Communications from Duquesne University and MS in Instructional Leadership along with my K-6 teaching certificate.

I have also been married for 12 years and have two boys Alex (7 1/2) and Tyler (4 /1/2). Outside of school I love to spend time with my family and friends, shopping, running and watching reality T.V. :)

Behavior Plan

Pre-K Behavior Expectations

We use a clip chart to allow the students gage their own behavior.

Each student has a clothespin and each morning all students begin on the green square labeled “Ready to Learn”. The green light is a reminder that they are “Good to go” and to “Keep making good choices.” If they keep following the rules and making good choices, they can move up to either a blue or purple square which are labeled “Outstanding Behavior” and “Role Model,” where they will earn a special prize from the Pre-K Treasure Box!

If a student starts to make bad choices, he/she will be given a verbal warning. If the behavior continues (after three warnings) the clothespin will be moved. The yellow square “Stop and Think! Make Better Choices.” This is a reminder for the students to check their actions and to think about the choices they are making in the classroom. Students may need time to think about how they are behaving and how they can change their behavior in a quiet area. When they return, they will be able to communicate about their behavior and how they can turn it around. Then, if they change their behavior and do not break the rules again, they will be moved back to the green square.

If a student continues to make poor choices (3 warnings) after being given an opportunity to fix his/her behavior, the student’s clothespin will be moved down from yellow to orange, “Consequence.” If the student can’t get his or her behavior to improve then he or she will move their clip to the red square which is “Uh-Oh! Phone Home!” and we will communicate with a message to you on remind, on the students’ behavior chart, or phone call home.

Also, you will receive a monthly behavior chart that will be sent back and forth each day. After your child’s behavior chart is reviewed and signed (in the colored square) please make sure to leave it in their folder for the next day.  It can be removed from their folder at the end of each month.
